Considered as the "third pillar" from Nintendo. They will be releasing, some people call an expansion of DS Lite or an entirely new hand held gaming device from Nintendo. The new DSi is able to play MP3 file formats through a SD card that can be inserted in the device ( Yes! A brand new opportunity for pirates to play their illegal ROMS ). The device also has a built-in 2.0 Megapixel camera. I am sure that this device will be a big hit. Though it will be released in Japan first this year, we can expect the DSi "about April next year" as said by Reggie Fils-Aime.
Those who says "Oh, We don't have to wait. We might as well import from Japan". Well, sorry to say but the DSi is region locked. It means one cannot play US DS carts on a Japanese DSi and only a few are those who can understand Japanese very well. So, we really have to wait until next year. The DSi will be wiping the GBA capability out, therefore the DSi will be thinner than Lite and the screen will be much more bigger. There will also be DSi download exclusives planned for the device. I'm going bring some more update soon.
